EJ,

What I like best about this image is the shooting angle. How close did the lens get to the water?

Great pose, light, background. Lovely colors. How does one handle a big lens in a pond? I would assume on a tripod but isn't it prone to falling over on a muddy base? I want to learn how to do this.

You just get the tripod all mucky and wet and are very careful when you set it down :) The lens was probably a foot above the water or so.

EJ, very nice and sharp and I like the composition with the eye just about in the upper right third.

I like it in that you can see the birds eye while preening. Nice shot

EJ,

The low angle and the preening pose make this an excellent shot. Very well done.
