Image
Blend of 2 exposures 1 for the clouds, 1 for the moon:

10D, 1-4IS@400mm, tripod
1/40, 1sec
f5.6
ISO 400

Just cut out the moon from the first exposure and put it on top of the second - with a little blending around the edges. Slight USM and contrast to punch it up a bit. Pano crop - mostly full frame horizontal.

Forest fires in the southwest were giving us folks in the midwest some colorful sunsets and moonscapes late in the summer. This was one of those nights.

Matt, the clouds really add a surreal feeling to this image. It's not just your standard moon photo at all. In fact, the more I stare at it, the moon seems to kinda float through the frame ... or maybe the clouds start to float past the moon. Could also be that I am overly tired. Nice blending job nonetheless. :)

When i was a kid this kind of image was spooky to me. I felt a vampire or werewolf was on the prowl. Too much tv I guess. Anyway, I'm over that now! I do really like this! :)

I think this is a fantastic moody image and I love the way the moon appears to glow giving this image a very realistic appearance. Pay no attention to Linda's comment. She was afraid of squirrels too.

Very nice blending job here! Well seen!

I'd prefer to have more space either below or above to tka the moon
off the horizontal center.
