Yosemite Valley, CA
Canon 10D, EF28-135IS@30mm, ISO 100, f/8, {1/80, 1/320}

Took this last Sunday. We had hoped to catch the valley in full fall colors, but most trees were still green. This was one of the most pronounced exceptions. Rain showers came and went throughout the day.
Occasionally the sun would peek through the clouds to satisfy all the photographers.

Please hammer on! Any kind of critique warmly appreciated. Reposts welcome. Thanks for looking and commenting!

Beautiful shot! I love that one orange tree sitting there by itself among the green trees and the warm colored grasses. The mists trailing down the mountainside is wonderful and adds a nice autumn atmosphere. I think that cropping some from the left side would emphasize the orange tree more, but it would also reduce the impact of the mists...so I am not really sure which way to say on this. Either way this is very nice!

Overall beauty Anders, but it is the quality of the depth involved that grabs my attention the most.
Very nice!!

I like the clouds hanging on the mountains and the orange tree certainly makes a nice foreground.

Softer light would be the biggest improvement, but you can't always get what you would like in that category. :x

The clouds are very nicely arranged to offset the tree. I might try lightening the tree and the rest of the foreground some to give it a little more snap.

Anders, while i agree this is a very nice image and done well, im having a problem with the trees in the left side of the image. There just not adding to it for me. Your main focus is the orange tree so im wondering if you shot any verticals of just that? Dont get me wrong, this is nice and done very well, just dont like the left half is all. My 2 pennys anyway!

Thanks for all comments!

Robert, I did shoot a number of variations on this, but I chose this one for the light. This was the one with the most sun, to 'light up' the orange in the tree. All the others have only indirect light and the orange is mainly brown - far less appealing.

So, to Tim's comment, with softer light the tree would be far less interesting and the shot less appealing overall...

I appreciate all your efforts to comment!
