Repost with more saturation and saved as sRGB

Taken this afternoon at RMNP. This image is one that just makes me shake. It is so close to being a nice image but I wasn't paying enough attention to the forground elements. :(

Do the OOF objects in the FG completely ruin this?

Bill, I like this in spite of the foreground elements. I wouldn't mind them at all if they were in focus, and it might have been possible to have both the foreground vegetation and elk in focus at f8. You might be able to crop a bit off the bottom, to just below where the feet would be, and try cloning out the bit of vegetation that is on his back and under the belly. It might also be worthwhile to see what happens if you selectively lighten and saturate the elk a bit more.

The wispy shrubs that come about knee-high echo the similar ones in the background, and thus create depth. But the heavy stick extending in front of his flank and the evergreen in the lower left corner are distractions. Otherwise, the image is nice, and if you'll still be there tomorrow, there's a good chance to get a similar one with a stronger foreground.

Wonderful subject. For my eye the green thing lower left seems to be the biggest distraction. Its a tough one. I tried looking at some different crops like head and neck to avoid the distractions but because of the antlers it puts the head about center in the frame and that doesnt seem to work very well to my eye.. I hope you get another chance with a clearer foreground.. Good luck Bill..

I think it is still a keeper despite the minor imperfections. The second one is much better due to better shadow detail.

I'm with EJ, I'd love this one in my files.

Definitely still a keeper. I like Kelly's suggestion to crop the bottom and minimize the OOF green branch in the LLC.

Certainly a beautiful scene with a nice pose. I also agree a crop on the bottom would help this already nice image. The brush in the foreground is distracting, but I wouldn't say it ruins the image.

I would definitely keep this one. The OOF green is the most bothersome to me. the forground branches are much less obtrusive. If you dont want it, you can send it to me...

I hate it when a tree moves and gets in the way of a shot. ;) Love the contrast of the beautiful rack and the scruffy coat. Hope you get another opportunity.
