American Alligator (Anhinga trail-ENP)

Pretty much a quiet character, silent and stealthy, deceptively slow in the water and never in a hurry, the master of Opportunity Hunting at it's best!!
Sometimes his eyes are the only visible thing out of the water, somehow they are always getting bigger and fatter as time goes by!!!!
D1x, Raw, Lens=400mm afs-f/2.8 + 2X Teleconverter, FL=800mm, Incident metering, 1/1000sec SS-f/6.3, EV=-0.3, ISO-250, No flash!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!

Very cool. Eyes centered up for impact, the long crop to accentuate the subjects underwater profile. As always ALex, I really enjoy your work and thanks for stopping by to post..

Well made. Even knowing the subject I find the orientation a little disquieting. Not seeing the nostrils, which way is the body? I like this effect a lot.

I find this image disconcerting. My eye wants to follow the longest segment down from the eyes and that is the wrong direction.

Alex I think I see you in his eye. Makes me wonder what he is thinking. I believe they have greater mental capacity than most people give then credit for. His ancestors eyes watched the dinosaurs demise and now they are watching us, waiting for us to screw up, I think.

Nicely done. If the eyre lid were down, he'd look like just another log in the water. I guess this is nature's version of the periscope.

Like Bill & Cheryl, I was first drawn to the left, looking for the snout there. Composition creates much more tension than your typical "alligator eye" shot!

This is excellent, Alex. Besides the other comment, I really like how the blue and green reflections work together in the water.

The perfect image....tension at its best. This is an alligator in stealth mode...not knowing whether he is coming or going. Pretty cool shot!!!
