Caught this juvenile European starling on my last trip to England; we we're visiting the castle of Sint-Michaels mount when I saw this ridiculously tame starlings; used my 150 mm macro as I did not have my tele neither my flash with me! the oof bg btw is seaweed !
Canon 10D, 150 mm macro, handheld, natural light (although fill flash would have been better)

This is one sharp image and the simple bg works extremely well, Herman!
Some interesting wing pattern there, a top wing flight shot of this bird would be a treat ...

Attractive looking bird, nice BG and interesting perch. 8)

Agree with you Herman that a bit of fill-flash would have completed the equation. Did you try a bit of H/S and perhaps a bit of dodge tool in front of the eye to open up the shadows.

I already did that and I felt I had pushed it to the limits, thanks for commenting,

The lichen and matching BG for the bird really make this a killer starling shot. Fill flash would have improved it a bunch though.
