My photographs aim at being true, not at being beautiful because, what is true is most often beautiful.

This is very evocative. I love this composition very much. Light, line play with each other beautifully. The window "scene," mirrored with the little flower in the jar set up a dialogue with each other. The chair, just to the side - invites us to partake, but the window and jar isolate us.

Definitely feels like everything is where it should be, without being over-composed. And that tilted horizon - perfect for this scene. It would lose almost everything if it were level.

Just out of curiosity, what was the equipment here? Print film? My favorite EHK image of yours.

digital "prosumer" camera

monkeyed with the image in ps to get the "right" balance between inside and out.

this image is much more "consciously" composed than most of my nature work. the "tilted" aspect is for energy and a sense that the view is "found" and spontaneous (which it was). i did not want it to look at all "formal"

i really appreciate the ongoing dialoque you have created with so many of my images. thanks

Mark, this is a very beautiful image. I can "hear" the calm quietness. Great shot.

I like the tilted orientation to add a bit of thension and the elements work together cohesively. Whether intentional or not, the clipped chair really doesn't work for me.

For me, the clipped chair adds movement. It would feel more static to me if the chair weren't exiting the frame - that's what also helps bring us into the picture. But it doesn't make one feel totally comfortable that's for sure.

Another thought: the fence is another layer of the "inside/outside" theme. I didn't really get that feeling on first viewing, but it's much more obvious now that I've had a full nights rest :)
