While I was out exploring yesterday, I came upon this out-of-the-way (think Deliverance) camp community. The overall landscape of the place was one falling down camp after another. The few people that were out stopped and stared at me as I drove down their gravel road and I was relieved when I finally passsed it by.

It is on the banks of the Ouachita River which I am sure floods the area occasionally. I paused briefly and shot this "camp" from the car window then hurried on my way, ducking from the shotgun blasts which I imagined were headed my way (they weren't). It's not a place where I would want to be after dark. :)

Do you see a way up?

I admire your courage for being there during the daytime.

Cool shot. No, I don't see a way up either. :?

Hmmmm...
Second floor apartment for rent on a quite tree-lined street. Some athletic ability required.....

Interesting shot. Maybe they lower a rope ladder from inside.

I'd second the rope ladder idea. Amazing what ingenuity people have. You just never know what you're going to find out there...

Wonderful documentary image. Something that you have to see to believe.
The next time I think that I'm having a bad day, I'll think of this image and the folks who live here.

I was out on a hillicopter trip for the county to photograph some facilities from the air. In process, we crossed the Facahatchee and Big Cypress wilderness areas. There are things like this with landing strips here and there. Makes you wonder how this stuff got out there, and what are the folks doing with them.
