Shot early morning on the Gulf Side East Beach on Sanibel. One of my goals during an overnight stay on Sanibel was to obtain flight shots of the Ospreys. Though I got some good flight shots, it was this post landing stretch that I like best.

Tree is an Australian Pine topped by chainsaw after Hurricane Charley last year though it is still some 50 feet high. Since I was limited as to how close I could approach due to roped off Snowy Plover nesting areas on the beach, the image is a bit less than a 50% crop.

Comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Repost with reworking to remove halo. Removed cyan from sky which helped a lot and I like the sky color better this way. Original post has been removed.

Lovely Osprey stretching image, Robert. Were you able to shoot into the Snowy Plover nesting area? How big would the chicks be now?

Great stretch!! The halo around the perch and wings is kind of distracting, probably from the shadow/highlight tool.

Great pose. Is he trying to do a wing-stand or what?
Halo around the bird and tree is a bit distracting.

I noticed the halo as well. :(

Function of H/S and Sharpening. I was looking into this and found this interesting article on the effect. :? I will have to post the link.

Planning on working on it some more as I dashed this off pretty quickly. It is much more pronounced at home on my calibrated monitor then at work where I processed it.

At work, it looked like I had gotten rid of it. Back to the drawing board. Will repost new version when I get it worked out.

Great job on the repost Robert. Getting rid of the halo, cropping it a bit tighter and posting the image larger without the frame gives it much more impact. Well done!

Mike,

Thanks. Think I am going to hit it with one more round of USM and repost it tomorrow. Thunderstorm and lights blinking on and off so going to sign-off.

I didn't see the original but this one looks good to me. It's a really cool pose....almost looks like he's somersaulting and will keep on going over. Very nice.
