Welcome,

I like your first shot, but I can't help wanting to know where this was taken? In which country f.e.?

I think if it would have been possible, I would have changed the angle a bit to be perfectly aligned with the BF. The BG is always difficult, but not that bad in your case Only the bright twig is a bit distracting. Also the little twig crossing the left antenna is not really helping. The animal itself looks nice. I love the detail in the wings. I kind of like the movement in the tongue

Cheers

Peter

Welcome to the forum! This shot is nicely done, especially considering that you got it at 1/60 handheld. The butterfly is a beautiful specimen and you've captured all the detail, along with good composition and exposure. It looks like you might have been able to cut some clutter out of the background by getting lower, and you probably could have made your life much easier by using a tripod.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
This was taken in the city state of Singapore where some dedicated BFs lovers have setup a trail for these BFs to roam free and for us to admire and photograph them.
Matt....this guy was sure skittish. The use of a tripod was out of the question as it had landed in the undergrowth. I would had looked like a bull in a china shop if I had used a tripod/monopod.

Welcome to NSN and the FFM forum. Very nice shot of this bf under less than ideal conditions. You did well to get this so sharp handheld at 1/60.

A pretty catch and very sharp for being hand-held. Nice going and welcome!
