I decided to take a break from the posting of the "MOH images. I will slip in one or more in the future at times.
From a few months ago in Glacier NP. Lillian saw this and loved the contrasting or is it complimentary colors. Anyway they pop. So I took a few shots also. I don't know what they are, but I like them also. This was mid day, we were hiking and did not take a diffuser, and getting closer we felt might have scared the butterfly off the flower, so we took it as best as possible.
Comments appreciated. What type of flower is it?

Can't help with the ID but I do like the shot. Colours are gorgeous and excellent placement.

Butterfly and composition are great, but the flower petals look warm on my monitor. This is a checkerspot species, maybe Variable checkerspot (Euphydryas chalcedona). I'd look through the other checkerspots in that genus to be sure- not a butterfly I know from my area, I've just admired them in fileld guides that show western species.

Steve, Slightly overexposed but not by much, the colors are great and pretty good detail, since I am no expert at these matters, I suspect that this is indeed a moth and not a butterfly, But I could be wrong!!, Still a very nice image IMO!!! Congrats!! 8)

Not much to say about this image Steve, except that it's beautiful.
