Canon 70-300 DO lens @ 150mm,

Taken last fall in Palos Township, South of Chicago, roadside. They roost here and early in the morning and sun themselves for about 30-45 min before taking off for the day. The light is pretty hard at this time, and they usually are in the tree next to this one which has many fine branches and leaves. This was my lucky day.
Just havin' fun

We did not live too far from there when we lived in Chicago so I know the place - we used to mountain bike quite a bit around there. Anyway, I am digressing - This is a nice shot - I like the stark tree with the lighting. I am not sure about the lower bird to the left - it seems to disrupt the composition a little - overall I like it. You usually do not see this many together - at least I do not.

I like it, I suspect that greater detail would be visible at higher resolution.

The pose of the lower left bird is cracking me up though.

Nice shot Mike. I've seen this with black vultures, but it was because of a deer carcass.

The first time I saw this behavior was in a suburb ( 1 block from a busy cross street) south of LA - "WHAT - in the WORLD???" :) just very curious to me...I would also maybe vlone out that lower bird and branch...otherwise, very cool presentation of the behavior, especially to get so many! :!: :!: :!:
