Love the lines and texture involved, and that spot of color just pulls the eye in! :)

I think this works very well. i love all the curves of grass and the spot of color just pops.

Robert, very cool! This is the kind of scene that I'd normally walk right past without seeing. The black background really sets off the green grass and colored leaf.

I agree this works for the reasons the others have mentioned. Additionally, the position of the leaf in one corner, and the "heavy" dark bg and curve of the grasses in the opposite corner, gives a nice balance to the image. I played with some crops that eliminated that urc and convinced myself that is a key to the success.
Very nice.

successful shot, nice composition. Thanks for sharing.. Dark backgrounds do not always work out, making it looked "FLASHED" but I think it works here..

Robert, this is a very nice photo -- nice job seeing it, and then capturing it with great exposure and composition. The only thing that could improve this in my eyes would be a leaf with more red and less green.
