I found this pair of firedartfish, Nemateleotris magnifica, in the Philippines in 1999. They are a mated pair and in nice synch with each other here. It is difficult to get a good shot of a pair since they do not stay close together like this very much since they feed on particles drifting past in the current, and are pretty wary. One will always dart back into their hole about the time I am ready to hit the shutter release. They are a little less than three inches long.
Nikon F4, Nexus F4 Pro housing, Iklite SS-100 strobes on TTL, 105mm lens with manual focus, f16 @ 125th, scanned Fuji Velvia slide. |
