I shot this tiny treasure, a pinkeyed goby, Bryaninops natans, in the Philippines about three years ago. This little fish was less 3/4 inch long, and they hover in small groups just above acropora corals. I have only seen these a couple of times at just one dive site. Many of the most colorful things in the ocean are tiny so macro photography is very popular with nearly all underwater photographers. The fastest swimmer does not win in the Macro Derby.
Nikon F4 in a Nexus F4 Pro housing, two Sea and Sea YS-350 strobes on TTL, Nikkor AF 105 Micro lens, f22 @ ISO 40 scanned Fuji Velvia slide (I shoot Velvia at ISO 40), slide slightly cropped at top to remove OOF coral bits.

Hey Al,

Don't be, just tag along on one of our trips! :D

You'll see so many critters that a 1GB card won't be enough!

Love the wild eye colours and the interesting-looking coral. Neat!

Stu is right, Al. You should join us on a dive trip to the Philippines. The underwater life where we dive there is amazing and they are wonderfully hospitable places. I found this little guy where I have been diving for those eleven years at the Anilao/Mabini area on Luzon Is. and we also dive at Puerto Galera on Mindoro Is. about 45 minutes away by water taxi.
