I shot this tiny treasure, a pinkeyed goby, Bryaninops natans, in the Philippines about three years ago. This little fish was less 3/4 inch long, and they hover in small groups just above acropora corals. I have only seen these a couple of times at just one dive site. Many of the most colorful things in the ocean are tiny so macro photography is very popular with nearly all underwater photographers. The fastest swimmer does not win in the Macro Derby.
Nikon F4 in a Nexus F4 Pro housing, two Sea and Sea YS-350 strobes on TTL, Nikkor AF 105 Micro lens, f22 @ ISO 40 scanned Fuji Velvia slide (I shoot Velvia at ISO 40), slide slightly cropped at top to remove OOF coral bits. |
