This is some of the young berries from a "poke plant."
Down south, they are sometimes called the "poke salad plant" and are still grown in the gardens and put on the dinner table even though parts of the plant are full of poison. The leaves are cooked similar to collards, etc., but the stems and berries are what is highly poisonous. And no, ................. this southerner has never had any and never will!! I have shot many images of this plant while sitting in the bushes with a macro or zoom/diopter combo. The stems have a beautiful and smooth red/green color while the berries are graceful looking in the early stages, moving to a very rich red color as it matures. Wonderful leaves, graceful and colorful berries, and glowing stems makes this a fun plant to study and to shoot! This small grouping of berries is about 2 inches in length, and the detail was lost when sized for the web in this shot.
