The same seagull as my last post. I've taken on board suggestions re cropping & making the border less obtrusive. All comments welcome as I feel such a novice at this sort of thing.

A nice shot albeit too saturated particularly the sky, Andy!
Time to learn the id of this gull as well ...

I've reduced the saturation in the Raw development:

BTW, this is a Black Headed Gull - very common in the UK.

Thanks for the re-post which is much better, Andy!

It does look like a Black-headed Gull in its breeding plumage. But I was expecting to see deep red bill and legs ...

This was taken last July, after the end of the breeding season. Whether this affects the coloration of the bill and legs, I do not know...

I have about 20 images of this guy and there is a redness to the beak when it's in direct sunlight. In this image, the beak is in the shade - the bird was flying overhead and I was flat on my back taking pictures of it, much to my wife's amusement. :)

Yup - no such bird as a seagull. It would be worth getting a basic guide to help ID these. It actually becomes a lot of fun and addictive to learn the various species.

..... Andy when I don't know the name usually will say "this lovely gull" "this great looking little ....."
You get the idea  A little at a time and you will be an expert :)

For the flying gulls (or other birds) I generally prefer the wings all up/down When they are bent the bird is not as attractive. 8)

Very good flight shot with great head position :) Congratulations !!!!

Excellent gull image. The head position really makes it for me and the catchlight really adds some life. Your repost really looks great.
