Anhinga in flight

I am almost certain this is the same bird you have in the states, here in Australia we call it Darter.

Got it a few days ago. Centennial park, Sydney

Great shot, especially the detail you have in the dark plumage.

I think the situation on Anhinga is that there are two species in the family, Anhinga anhinga commonly called Anhinga which is found in the Americas, and Anhinga melanogaster commonly called Darter, which is found elsewhere including Australia. If I remember correctly, the Darter was considered three species until being lumped a few years ago.
