George Lepp wrote on this method and finally I tried it. By adding a 12mm extension tube to a 15mm fish eye, your focal plane is on the front of the lens.
I laid the poppy on the lens and shot it backlit.
When I put it on the screen, I noticed that I had clipped off a pistol.
I cloned on the one which stands over the frame. EJ might have a comment on my frames about this. The effect is sort of 3D like some others I have played with.

Very cool shot, Steve. Good use of a technique I've read about and want to try someday. I like your framing, except for the white stripe along the left and top sides (seems too bright). I like this shot alot!

Cool shot! Concur entirely with Tom. Only issue is with the frame where the single pistol sticking out would be more dramatic with no white or black and your name moved further right. Nice use of the technique.

Beautiful colors and composition.

Its photos like this, and the description of how they were made, that makes NSN a great place to learn!
