Cool. Like the fence and I like the birds. I am slightly bothered by the big "gobs" of brightness though.

This is pretty much out of the camera. Those parts of the sky were pure white.

"Evaluative Metering +1" is likely why the sky is blown out.

Nope :) . Here's one straight out of the camera at the same spot at -1/3. Same white area. Using a lesser setting would just take away the fog.

Combine the sky in the top one with the land in the new post.

There is no way to take this shot without filters or without sandwiching two exposures and not have the sun blown out - I think the exposure you chose works pretty well although I would have toned it down a hair personally. Who cares if the sunny part is blown, that's the way our eyes se it too in that scenario. I like the shot very much.

EXACTLY! What I saw with my naked eye was pure 255 white :) . I was out at dawn this AM and looked at the sky and again it appeared as pure white to my eyes. Of course after about 30 seconds of looking at it you see little blue circles when you take your eyes away :D

Harvey, Very moody and peaceful! The various diagonals work well together, and birds fit perfectly in the triangle of yellow sky.
