This is quite a common orb-web spider in these parts. This is the female. (the male is much smaller and look totally different). I quite like the web lines in the image. Personally I find the variegated background oddly attractive, but maybe just me. There's some human artefact blurred in the bg if you look closely at it. What do u think?  Is it too distracting?
Comments welcomed. Hope the view is an enjoyable one. Sorry to bring back spider theme. ;)

Maybe it is a common spider in your neck of the woods but it is quite striking and impressive, Darren. Bg fine for me also.

Excellent detail when clicked on, the background is not distracting - and spiders are slightly preferable to flies, Darren.

An excellent capture of the spider and web. No nits about the background.

Great shot! Love seeing the web. No problem with the background.
