Nice to see our resident Eagle Owl preparing for this season's brood.

Composite image merged from 8 individual images files in order to preserve detail,  colour intensity and reduce noise.

Nikon Z9 with Nikkor Z S 800mm PF.

Large view

Thanks for the visit, have a great day.

Looks quite good considering the distance, the setting is great and fingers crossed that they will nest successfully. Have you tried using a tele converter there? I'm wondering if that would help to some extent.

Thank you Axel - we've tried a 1.4x converter - which works well with the 800mm PF.

The last few days the weather has just been too gloomy to risk losing a stop of light ;)

I was attracted to the merger of images after reading some astro photography articles.

Will also try the new pixel shift feature of the Z8.

Nice image in natural habitat. This Owl is the best looking Owl IMO. I have a close up hanging on my wall so I see it every day.

Let's hope they will stay for many years to come! A lovely view of what looks like a great nesting site for these amazing owls and the resident looks perfectly at ease!
