Not entirely sure about this one...so...I post it here mainly for critique.

A super tiny mushroom...less than 4mm across.
Really low light conditions, less than a centimeter above the ground.
Wanted to keep the dreamy feel...but in retrospect perhaps focus stacking would have been a better option.

I like it as is - but I would like it even more if that brown stem behind the little mushroom wasn't there, especially the lower section where the light catches it as it draws my eye away from the star of the show John. Just my two pennies worth.

Nice subject, John.

Just wondering if you open up further can you render the yellow stem sufficiently blurred.

Another suggestion is to change the lens direction so the stem is not behind the subject.

Another way is to trim the surroundings with a small scissors first.

I am sure you are not done with this cutie.

I took about 30 images at differing apertures....sadly opening up gave me very little of the front of the mushroom in focus.
Another of my many difficulties with the image was that my D810 was already on the ground...no flippy screen to be able to view comp and focus easily...maybe this is an excuse to start looking at a Z8....lol
30 cm of snow now where this mushroom was....maybe this summer I will have another chance....

I love the feel of this-very nice dreamy mood. I'm not so bothered by the brown stem's position, but I think it would be easy to just darken it so it fades into the background.
