CANON R7
CANON 100-500 @ 500mm
F7.1 @ 1/800
ISO 500

I believe this is the butterfly species listed above, but please correct me if I have not identified this individual correctly. This image was taken last summer on a day planned for hummingbird photography, but with little success. There were some butterflies among the flowers, so it was a pleasant alternative to  photograph a few of them on that day.

Province of Ontario, Canada, image- August 2023.

Great-looking flower, and the OOF colors complement the butterfly really well, Paul.

A very pretty scene-love all the subtle colors in the BG and a nice view of the butterfly and flower. Your butterfly looks more like a Cabbage white to me, with that single dark spot. https://www.butterfliesathome.com/cabba ... terfly.htm

Thank you for the comments, Cynthia. I went to the mentioned web site, and I would have to agree with your identification. It's important to correctly identify species of any kind,so I appreciate having your input here.

Glad if you think I was correct. I always find it very hard to i.d. butterflies of this type.

Really a delightful image, with such lovely colours. I really like the contrast of the warm color of the butterfly with the slightly cold tones
of the flowers and the background.
