Short-Eared Owl from Livingston County NY last Friday.  The last image of tis owl showed it taking off from its post.  In this image the owl decided to fly right toward us when leaving the post. We were shooting at the highest frame rate. The bird was about 40 feet away and its left wing was clipped out of the frame at 500mm. I felt there was enough detail to crop tightly on the owl’s face and not worry about the wing. What do you think?  Enough detail?  Using car as a blind.

It works for me, Ed! A lovely close up view of the face and those gorgeous eyes.

well done on the portrait side, good on the face but a little soft on the wings, amazing ED, P.S. there is no perfect lens for all situations.

Excellent image, Ed. The crop highlights the face and eyes of the owl, which are probably the outstanding feature(s), of owls in general, plus some other parts of the bird are included here as well, so to me, the photo looks fine.

Great opportunity to capture a closeup of this owl in flight.
