Sharing a portrait of a tiny jumping spider taken this morning at the fringe of a big field. Using a long macro lens to zoom in to those tiny eyes seem to work better than moving the lens forward and back.

1/200,f 13, 90D, 180T with flash, handholding approach, slight crop, Topaz denoise.

Thanks for all the encouragement and do hope this image works for you.
Comments welcome.

Love the eye and face detail and the angle on the subject.

Spiders freak me out - but these tiny jumpers have certainly got a charm all their own. A fine close up view of this little character Darren!

Thanks all for the kind comments.

Hi Craig,
think its a matter of trial and error, with the equipment u're using. And another tip might be to shoot the JS from all angles.....lessen the pressure of the need to get the face shot. So if a nice face shot turns up, then all the better.

I have a friend who knows how to use auto-focus to lock on to those eyes. For some reason I find anything auto doesnt work well with these critters.

cheers...

You caught the gleam in those eyes-not an easy task. I like it's "attitude" too. Great job!

I like those sharp round eyes. Placing the spider along the diagonal is interesting.
