What a cool and unusual setting for this Scoter, E.J. I have never seen them inland and with these beautiful water colors.

Wonderful low angle and golden water.
Last time I saw one of these it was Memorial Day and I was standing on a freaking snow bank on a rocky peninsula sticking into Lake Superior.  We'd see a line of specks flying around the point, put our scopes on 'em, and see that there were Black, White-winged, and the occasional Surf specks.  I guess I should have hung out in the desert.

Certainly not where you would expect to see one of these coastal water ducks but what a wonderful shot you got here from your rare opportunity! The golden water complements the black plumage beautifully.

Gotta wonder how it got there-so out of place. Beautiful golden setting. Used to see them on the ocean in Rockport Mass.-far away!
