This image was captured at a crystal clear turquoise blue Alpine Lake in The San Juan Mountains near Telluride, Colorado. It sits an elevation of nearly 12,000 feet or 3657 meters.

The lakes where the light reflects off the glacial sediment creating this lovely turquoise colour are always so beautiful to see!

A lot of the Alpine lakes in the San Juan's have a similar color. Although this is one of the most striking blues...

Those high alpine lakes have a way of making you feel both insignificant and part of something immense. I was near Telluride last summer, and the clarity and color of the water at that elevation are truly something to behold – it's almost surreal, like nature's own version of a special effect.

During my trip to Copper Mountain, I found the area's cost of living to be pleasantly affordable – it's a breath of fresh air, considering the quality of experiences available. Plus, getting there was a breeze; we decided to splurge a little and went from DIA to Copper Mountain by chauffeured car. The Escalade ride was top-notch – spacious and luxurious, with surprisingly good rates for such upscale transport. This was a little surprise before our hiking trip for 3 days.
