A Texas Indigo Snake photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in deep South Texas 22 April 2023.
The Indigo Snake is one of the longest native snakes in North America. They can grow to be up to ten feet long and have a lifespan of about nine years. For any animal to survive in the wild, they must be able to adapt to their environment. The Indigo snake adapted by growing larger and stronger than other snakes. They are most well-known for chasing down, overpowering, and eating Rattlesnakes. They are the favorite snake on any South Texas ranch. This snake was pretty large, probably about eight feet long. 1/1600 sec f/5.6 ISO 800 Looks better viewed large. |
