This is a male Oecanthus latipennis, Broad-winged tree cricket, that I found in the yard the other night. I finally got an opportunity to take some shots. I found this lovely aster in the yard too and set this up inside. He wasn't terribly cooperative since I didn't chill him but just played with him for several minutes until he calmed down on the flowers.
EOS 1Ds, 180mm macro, f/29, 1/125sec, ISO 200, two flashes with diffusers and spice bush leaves in the back ground. In PS, levels, focal blade for sharpening, and I had to clone out a piece of black thread that was on his wings.

Good shot, Wil. I like how the cricket is the same color of green as the stalk of the aster, and it goes nicely with the purple. Great use of your flash set-up, too! Very nice.

Very interesting - I like the translucence of the wings

Wil, this is way cool! I think the antennae being cut off is no a big deal and the lighting looks great. What did you set the flashes to and how does TTL handle the diffusers?
