Now that I think of it, this may be a cheetah rather than a lion licking and it might be the second cheetah it is licking instead of a kill. What is your vote? I am not sure and I was not willing to stroll over to check. I try not to get too close to wild animals, but it has happened.. Anyway, it is hidden, but more visible than in the previous post.
An interesting day in the Mara. We drove across a gully to reach this spot, dropping the tie rod on the Rover on a stump in the process. That bent the tie rod and when it rained that afternoon, the driver did several 360 degree plus spins as we drove home. The rains make the talcum like dust into a slick as grease mess. Later I found out that it is easy to fix a Rover, but you have to fix them often. The Rover shop in Nairobi said that a Toyota would not require as much maintainance, but is not easy to fix in the field, so it is a personal choice. Shot from the top of the Rover, resting on a foam pad, Nokon F5, 500F4 P , exposure unrecorded. Steve Bein
