I didn't expect much from this aquarium shot. I expected so little that I didn't take any pains to get the exact ID of the fish involved. But on looking at it and playing with it a bit, I REALLY like this image.

I believe the fish involved is a gar, or possibly a pike. I would've gone back to the aquarium anyway, now I'll definitely have to go back and see!

This is a single image cropped into a pano. I brightened the shot up quite a bit compared with the original, adding about 1/2 level of exposure in RAW conversion, and adjusting a little more in levels to make things brighter. I'm interested if people think this would look better darker. The teeth are awfully bright now, but I think that makes them look better!

Looks like a gar to me. A pike has a much shorter snout/mouth.

Don't grab either one of them bare handed. :D :D :D

I think that this is what I always called "alligator gar".
Menacing looking, and a very cool shot!! 8)

First off, congrats on IOW for the ant shot Mike, brilliant work.

Well its that word impact that hits me with this shot. Very strong perspective in this. Spooky though M8t, spoooooky. Excellent work once again.

All the best Mike, keep them coming.

Danny.

Cool, up close and personal perspective of this ferocious looking predator. Flash really falls off fast in the water. Pretty good DOF here and sharp where it needs to be.
