Canon 5D, 100-400 @400mm, 1/160 sec., f/8, ISO: 200. I lived in southern California for 38 years before retiring and moving up to Oregon in 2010. I'd often wondered where some of the pictures I'd admired of downtown L.A. had been captured. Finally I did a little searching on the 'net and found that, aerial and drone shots excluded, most had been taken from Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area. Although it was a little bit of a drive through LA traffic, I finally drove there in 2006 or 2007 - can't recall exactly. The view of the basin - on a clear day - is awesome. I'm posting this mediocre shot simply to let those interested in photographing the downtown area of LA where to find this perspective. BTW, that's Mt. San Antonio (Mt. Baldy) in the background. I've climbed that one many times taking the Ski Hut Trail up and the Devil's Backbone Trail down.
