Shot a week ago. I don't take shots of GB Herons often, but I couldn't resist to take this shot. It was dark overcast day and this guy was sitting motionless on the piece of wood in the middle of the canal. I slowly went down the canal very slowly not to scare the bird.
I had camera on the tripod and I wanted to get close to the water I can get so front tripod leg was in water. Since bird was not moving at all, I took advantage of it and slowed shutter speed down to 1/80 and that allowed me to shoot at ISO-500. This is full frame shot with no crop. 1D4, SIGMA 500mm f/4.5 EX DG HSM 1/80, ISO-500, f/7.1 on tripod. Please click on the image for uncompressed view, thank you. |
