Roseate Skimmer
Orthemis ferrugenia Hidalgo Co, TX Although they're "common as dirt" down here, I think they're beautiful. So often I'm fighting shadows of the wing veins on the thorax, but this guy was perched about 1' off the water, allowing the reflection to act as natural fill. Canon 1D MkIV 560 mm (100-400 4.5-5.6 v.2 + 1.4x t.c.II) f/10, 1/640 sec iso 800 Natural light, handheld Comments, suggestions, and re-posts always welcome. |
