Right now I'm using a drobo running off of esata.  I'm looking to upgrade (windows operating system) to a new raid.  Which is better another drobo or something like g-technology?  What connection seem to be fastest for a single computer?   Of the western digital drives which is fast enough?  I assume drive speed is not determining operational speed of the raid but rather the connection is.

thanks.  it looks like drobo is out.  It looks like a lot of people are using the synergy NAS system.  Which is better NAS or a plain raid like g-technology?  I think I need a little education on what NAS really is.  What connection seem to be fastest for a single windows computer?   Of the western digital drives which is fast enough (implication on the link is that red is sufficient)?  I assume drive speed is not determining operational speed of the raid but rather the connection is.
