Nikon had an update to 9 point autofocus on the Nikon D5. Does anyone know if this update is planned for the Nikon D500?
Also has anybody used the 2 cameras to compare the auto focus systems and the 9 point focus system on the D5?

I have seen the article earlier. Brad Hill louded new 9 point in D5. As a D500 owner missing it badly. Not sur on update. Nikon may do it or may not. May keep it exclusively for higher priced model, but D500 is good enough without this.

I really like the 9-point option on the D5. With the smaller focus sensors you can get it to track on a small target(like an eye on a big mammal) and it locks and tracks really well. I just got back from a trip to GTNP and Yellowstone, the D5 stayed on d9 but with the D500 I mostly used single-point. I hope they add that option on the D500 in a firmware update(hopefully coming soon).

Best,
Bill
