Hello NatureScapers..

This is an image I made a couple of years ago on the ice off of the Magdelan Islands in Canada. I thought I would toss it out there for the unofficial seal motif and the official "freezing cold" motif. Visitors on the ice are required to use survival suites and all the warm weather gear you can get underneath. My D1x batteries (I know feeble to start with) would average about 15min before becoming nonfunctional, requiring a rest in the pocket with the chemical warmers. It was minus 10F that morning. This seal is about two weeks old.

Thanks for looking and for any comments or suggestions..

Absolutely stunning! The detail in the pup is wonderful, but the background adds depth making it more than just a portrait.

You posted another seal pup some time ago that may have been from the same area... and it was also stunning. You really have a knack for these white on white images!

This is too adorable for words Dennis. The ice on the nose and the bg is fabulous! And those whiskers!

You know I love your seal pup pictures and this one is no exception. the wide angle here makes it even more dramatic.

This is so awesome. The wide angle is perfect in this case.

Beautiful as is, but I bet you could pull the lower side of the Curve left a bit to open up the eyes (or, just select the eyes, or the highlights in the eyes, and brighten to taste). Don't get me wrong, there's plenty there now; I just think another few percent would make the eyes stand out better among all the lighter tones.

Thanks for the tip CB. Thats exactly what I did. Their eyes are jet black in real life with no features whatsoever. I wanted to keep the change subtle so as to not look "photoshopped"

The black eyes against the white fur, and the snowy nose really push this off the cuteness scale.

Stunning shot. The little bits of snow and ice on his nose add to the cuteness.

Yes, that's the ticket. Just like I remembered it. I think I have called it one of those indelible images, and one I associate with your work, or associate your work with. I really like everything about this. Insert all the adjectives here...

As cute as our grey seal pups are, nothing beats a harp seal on snow :)

An absolutely stunning shot Dennis.

Very cute and an excellent image. I like that you used a wide angle lens and got some of the habitat.
