Oregon has increased Cougar quotas from 777 to 970 statewide.  The quotas are divided up as to region and include hunting and other deaths such as autos.  There are an estimated 3500 to 10,000 cats in the state.

The one thing that allowed the cat population to expand in Oregon was a voter approved ban on dog hunting.
