Loss of heat by radiation from the ocean is much lower than previously thought, which could account for the more rapid than expected warming in the Arctic.
Far infrared emissivity of the ocean previously unavailable has been measured to be substantially lower than originally assumed, which is important even during the winter when the sun isn't shining.

It's a vicious cycle! More thawing of ocean ice means more trapped heat in non-frozen water surfaces which leads to more thawing and, thus, more non-frozen areas of water to trap more heat.
