This is the same bull I posted previously, but he was posing for a vertical image. I was the first one in this large meadow along the Madison River that morning and went out about 250 yards to capture one of his mates and a young elk as they were in the shadows cast by the mountain. Only after getting part way out did I notice him way off in the distance. I wound up within about 30 feet from the 3 cows and one youngster as they moved toward me. He slowly proceeded toward us at a real slow rate. By the time I left about an hour later at least 20 other people at all stages of photgraphic skill had joined me.

10D, 600IS, ISO 200, f6.3/1/1250, EV-1, slight crop off the top.

Comments and reposts welcome.

I like the vertical composition and the greenery you caught him munching on. He has a rather smug expression!

Jim, I thought your first shot of this beautiful animal was gorgeous - but if it is possible, this one is even better! The composition here is superb with the head on pose and the perfect tech's and wonderful colour tones truly set this one apart! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Hey Jim,

This is just beautiful. If I had to nit anything, I'd like a tiny bit more room at the top, but that's just my taste (and it's probably there anyway, and you may have cropped it). I LOVE the antler tips .. absolutely perfect light on them.

Cheers

Carl
