A recent Teton NP image.

10D, 100-400IS, ISO 200, f8, 1/640, Ev-1, no flash. Late PM light was hitting him. I wish his rack were larger as he was most tolerant. No crop.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Jim:
A lovely image - good composition, excellent exposure, catchlight, good background; it has it all. No nits from me. The really "big boy" we found in the Tetons was over in the Gros Ventre area, sometimes in the campground (where we got our images of him). According to the volunteers there, he is a"regular" (was there last year also). This year he brought along his cow and two yearlings. A "big boy" for sure, but the campers, latrines, picnic tables, etc. in the background take a lot from the images. I like your moose!

Good looking moose Jim. Nice detail in the dark areas and I like the BG.

I love the comp and polished look of the rack. Plenty big enough for me!

One of the best Moose portraits we've had on here IMO Jim! the composition, detail and sweet light really are excellent. Your work is always of a consistently high standard and this is another fine shot from you! 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Hey Jim,

Very nice .. the light is beautiful, and the comp works well. As for his rack, well, he probably wishes it were bigger too! :) Don't sweat it!

Cheers

A great job with a tough exposure. The dark fur of moose, combined with their light antlers can make for some tough shooting. You've got nice details in the fur and a wonderful pose. The rack isn't going to impress the cows, but its certainly formed very well for it size. He should be a regal beast in a few years.
