Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Landscapes Gallery, week ending 10th August, 2012!I shot this from a Skylane RG earlier this year. Rather than explain it first, I would like to see how people interpret it, then I'll explain it if necessary. It will be interesting to see if anyone gets what it is.

Mods- It's a landscape image and it has not been heavily photoshopped.

My first thought is some type of ice formation. What ever it is, it's a great image!

Thanks Mike.

This was shot a little SW of Corpus Christi, TX a few months ago so no ice. I'm not 100% sure of the exact location. I know it's a stream that flows into Baffin Bay but I'm not sure if it was Cayo de Hinosco or Cayo del Mazon. The darker areas are brackish water and the lighter areas are (I presume) calcium or salt deposits. The "stripes" across the playa are wild animal tracks. Hence the title of the image.

The pilot made a steep banked turn and when I looked down this is what I saw. I don't think that I even thought about shooting this... I just did.

An aerial view of river ice was my first impression too!
Very cool!

It's beautiful! It looks like art - very abstract but with lovely colors, textures, and form. I don't know what it is, but I like it!

Thank you John and Kari.

Kari- I like it because it's from the natural world. If I'm not shooting landscapes I'm chasing animals trying to get a good image and to have a piece of each in one image was a bonus.

I printed it on 8.5x11 Moab Slickrock Metallic Pearl and I really like it. I'll think I'll print it 17 x 22 soon.
