Bull elk in rut

The elk rut season has started in Colorado and today was my first attempt this season to capture some of the action. Hopefully, this won't be the start of a "flood" of elk images for you to wade thru from me!

Nikon D1x, 70-200 VR +1.4 TC, 1/80 sec, f5.6, ISO 500

Definitely gives you a sense of him bellowing (if that's the correct term) but seems a bit over contrasty on my monitor. I like how you have him framed by greenery.

Very nice behavior shot. My only wish is that it would have been composed such that the legs are not cut-off at the bottom of the frame.

Nice catch in mid bugle. I agree with EJ's comment and am a bit distracted by the bright highlights of sky.

Hmmmm.... I don't beileve the legs are cut off....
