Having seen this bird and know how hard it can be to photograph unless you find one that is over the top on hormones - It is simply a fantastic photo.
But similar looking to the Spruce Grouse is where it ends - A Capercaille adult male can have a wing spread up to 49" and it's length is up to 34" and can easily weigh over 10 lbs ( I am doing wt from memory and at my age that can be dangerous) Interestingly a male is 40% larger than female. Spruce Grouse weighs it at a lb with a 22" WS!!
