Katmai National Park, AK

All brown bears scavenge along and in the river for fish to eat, at times some choose fresh salmon, while others such as this bear prefer the nastiest fish from the river bottom.

I'm amazed how low you guys got. Most Katmai shots I've seen have been more top down type shots. Very cool!

A beautiful female with rather nasty tastes - my kinda girl :D
I just love the dark water and golden fur on this bear. I've never seen so many shots where you can actually see the bears eyes!

Now I'm back in the UK I've noticed my Halle is rather more Chuck so I think I shall be trading that particular model in.

I really like the protective look of this one. You are in for some serious trouble if you are trying to get that salmon!

Yummy!

With the number of salmon dying after their spawning run, we need the bears (and eagles) to clean up the mess!

Beautiful shot.

Paul, you mean seagulls, and plenty of them. There were more glaucous gulls present than you could imagine. We had a number of eagles present, but not one feasted on salmon. The wolves however ..., but that is another post

Very possessive look in the eye and the manner of holding the fish. Well captured image that tells a story! 8) 8) 8) :)

I'll second that! Love that look as well as the low angle.
