This image is of a lightning whelk at the edge of a draining tide pool on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Singh-Ray 3 stop reverse grad ND to hold back the sunrise.

Nice image here Jared! I would say maybe tone down the yellow saturation intensity in the sky and a bit of dodging to even out the effects of the reverse grad, otherwise I'm diggin' it!

The colors are very nice. I think the shell in the foreground is too big and grabs to much the attention.

Beautiful colors. It may be my imagination but the background is not as sharp. Was it because the focus was on the shell? This can be overcome by having two exposures with different focus points (one on the shell, one to the hyperfocal distance, or perhaps to infinity), and blending them in Photoshop via layers. It's just a small nit nonetheless, this is a beautiful picture that I like a lot.

Very nice use of the near/far composition, it works well in this photo and gives it a different feel with the shell so prominent in frame. The beach line leads the eye into the sun perfectly.
