Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Flora and Macro Gallery, week ending 3rd February, 2012!During our warm temperatures lately, the top of the frozen brook melted leaving a layer of water above the ice. This is a frozen upper crust above an air pocket. Lots of bubbles formed overnight during the refreeze. The white patches are fissures in the crust.

Very cool shot: looks rather like a moonscape, another excellent bit of macro defamiliarization!

Hi

These icy abstracts are great fun to play around with – and I really like the combination bubbles and fractured ice seen within this shot. You have certainly imo composed this one nicely and that aspect along with the well controlled lighting look comes over a treat.

An excellent abstracted take – right up my street

Thanks for the view
Matthew

This is wonderful Steve! Gorgeous composition of geometric shapes - quite surreal and beautiful!

You could also try this with various different colour tones to make a wonderful image to frame for interior designing - colour matched for different room themes!

VERY nice Steve. Lovely pattern. Did you convert this to a high contrast B&W? I'll bet it would really POP out. Great as shown. Thanks for sharing.

Love the combinations of shapes in the image. Abstract with good motion moving up, you can almost see the bubbles floating up. Thanks for sharing. Victoria

Thank you very much to all for the kind remarks. BTW...someone made the suggestion, and rightfully so, that a very appropriate fish can be seen in the ice if you turn the image 90° clockwise. :-)

Thank you for the congrats Fabio.
