Really cool shot Steve. The timing is perfect with the water continuously flowing from the tail to the ocean. Really neat stuff. If I could be so bold as to make a slight suggestion it would be to sharpen everything the way you want it and then put the credit or type on the picture just before saving. I have noticed on some of your posts that the type "falls apart". It just doesnt stand up to sharpening like the pictures.. Just an observation to help out, not a nit by any means. This is an incredible picture and thanks for your contribution here..

Steve,

Great shot. I like the smooth flow of the curve of the tail and the water dripping.

Ken,
On a whale watching trip, if yousee enough of the whales, you get tuned into the pattern of the breathing and then the dive. There is enough time from theblow to the dive to get ready, then you hope you are in the right location for the light.
I was in a "panga", sort of a long row boat with an engine. Next time I will crouch lower to get the tail above the horizon which is pretty low. The tail shot was one I wanted when we went out and I got a few nice ones. In Alaska, the boats are higher and there is more of a problen getting the tail in the air, unless you are kayaking.
On this trip, we visited Scammons Lagoon and San Ignacio but missed the other main whale location, Magdelena Bay. Next time I hope to get all.

Nice shot. I like the water spilling off the tail. My only nit was the tail merging with the horizon, but you already mentioned that  This looks like a very difficult shot to pull off and you did a very nice job with it.
