Here's my favorite shot from my hike up Thornhill Mountain yesterday. It was a pretty good day, cloudy skies for a while but they eventually became a perfect bluebird day.

ISO 100 1/500sec f8 (no tripod)

This shot belongs in the EHK Forum due to the man made objects. Personally this one doesn't work for me due to the OOF foreground trees.

Argh, sticking it in that forum just makes everyone think it's a digitally modified shot.

Steve,
I think you have the wrong opinion of the EHK gallery. I agree that it would be better suited to that gallery, not because of the amount of visual real estate taken up by the human element but because of the conotations the development of the valley has.

I think the two OOF trees on the lower left form an important framing element in concept, but the execution here makes them seem accidental. Perhaps panning a little to the left to get just a bit more in - indicate to the viewer that you want them in the frame.

All in all, it looks like it was a fun hike.

cheers,
-matt

You almost could have hidden the buildings behind those trees if you wanted, but they do tell an interesting story about development in the valley. The placement of the FG trees looks ok to me but I'd like to see them much sharper.

Being one of the moderators of both galleries, I have to disagree. There are many great images posted there manipulated and not.

Imagewise, I do not like the OOF trees and it's too blue.
